Based on the evaluation result and in order to protect Jakarta residents from COVID-19 transmission, Jakarta Government through Transportation Agency (Dishub) eliminated activities carried out in 32 Special Areas for Cyclists (KKP)s in 5 municipalities starting Sunday (8/16).
"W e will close KKPs temporarily while waiting for evaluation for the next policy"
Jakarta Dishub Head, Syafrin Liputo stated, this decision was made because of many violations committed by people who were doing activities in 32 KKPs, such as not wearing mask, gather with the others that causing a crowd. Moreover, there were people vulnerable to COVID-19 such as elderly, pregnant women, and children under 9 years old who visit the KKPs with various reasons.
"Because health protocols violations in those areas are quite high, we will close KKPs temporarily while waiting for evaluation for the next policy," he said, Saturday (8/15).
Even though activities in KKPs are prohibited, he continued, people who want to exercise on Sunday can use other facilities provided by Jakarta Government such as bicycle lanes and several green open spaces (RTH).
"We have 63 kilometers bicycle lanes and in other areas such as BKT and temporary bicycle lane in Sudirman-Thamrin-Merdeka Barat that can be used. There are also other areas that are available for doing sports such as at Tebet Park and GBK. But people shouldn't cause a crowd and adhere to health protocols," he asserted.
For information, 32 KKPs have been allowed for sport activities since June 28, 2020. Joint personnel from TNI/Police, Jakarta Dishub and Satpol PP were deployed to monitor people's activities in the location and take action if necessary. This observation is used to evaluate whether activities in KKPs can be continued or not.
