Jakarta PMI cooperates with Jakarta Government to meet the needs of blood stock during the COVID-19 pandemic.
" The current blood supply is just around 300 bags per day"
Jakarta PMI Blood Transfusion Unit Head, Niken Ritchie conveyed, the blood need in Jakarta reaches 700 bags per day. But because of the pandemic, blood stock owned by PMI is decreasing.
"The current blood supply is just around 300 bags per day. The difference reaches hundreds of blood bags between blood supply and the amount of blood bags needed," she said, Thursday (7/16).
Knowing this condition, her side cooperates with Jakarta Government to hold blood donations in six regions of Jakarta to fulfill the blood supply.
"We ask the civil apparatuses in Jakarta Government to donate their blood to meet the needs of blood in City," she conveyed.
Her side also asked the patients who are in need of blood to bring their relatives to become their donors. She ensured to implement strict health protocols in the process of blood donation.
"We implement health protocols, even check PMI personnel's health routinely and require them to wear mask, wash their hands, and clean the beds before and after used by blood donors," she closed.
