304 Tourists Visit Harapan Island Amid COVID-19

The Thousand Islands Tourism and Creative Economic (Parikeraf) Sub-agency has noted that as many as 304 tourists have visited Harapan Island since Saturday (6/27) until Saturday (7/4).

According to Puji Astuti, Head of Thousand Islands Parikeraf Sub-agency, people interest to travel to North Thousand Islands region was still high amid COVID-19 outbreak. During the week yesterday, there were 16 people visited Kelapa Island and 128 tourists visited Pramuka Island.

"In the first week, we open Harapan and Kelapa islands for tourists and its interest is quite high. They stay overnight at the homestay, Harapan Island while implementing the health protocol," she expressed, Sunday (7/5).

In order to contain COVID-19 transmission, along with all agencies and task force teams, the sub-agency kept strengthening supervision on health protocol rules ranging from departure to arrival at the pier.

"Tourists must pass a check point that includes ID card check, body temperature check and 3 M implementation (using a mask, washing hands and maintaining physical distancing)," she explained.

Thousand Islands National Park Authority for Conservation of Natural Resources and Ecosystems Head Badiah added Pramuka Island's national tourism natural park had begun to open to the public since yesterday.

"Based on the coordination results between regency and sub-agency, the national park is opened while maintaining health procedures and protocols in accordance with regional policies," she said.
