Jakarta Government officially extended the first phase of Transitional Large-scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) until the next 14 days. During the extension period, Jakarta Government will cooperate with related parties to monitor and tighten health protocols implementation in two main areas with high potential in spreading COVID-19, namely markets and electric railroad (KRL).
" In this one month evaluation, there are two main areas of COVID-19 spread; markets and KRL"
"In this one month evaluation, there are two main areas of COVID-19 spread; markets and KRL. We have noted 19 markets that will be closed for this entire month. Later on, TNI, police, and ASN will be deployed to tighten monitoring in the markets in Jakarta," he said in press conference at Jakarta City Hall, on Wednesday (7/1), as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.
He informed, there are 153 markets managed by Perumda Pasar Jaya and around 150 community-based markets outside of Perumda Pasar Jaya which operate in Jakarta. Thus in total it reaches 303 markets that will be closely monitored.
The difference between the extension period and the previous Phase 1 Transitional PSBB is market's internal and external aspects. In the extension period, monitoring will be tighten for market visitors (external aspect).
"Besides, market's operating hour will be returned to normal and odd-even policy for traders will be removed. But we will control number of visitors in the market not to exceed 50 percent of market's capacity. It will be managed by officers at the market's entrance," he explained.
Meanwhile for KRL, his side will cooperate with TNI-Police and PT. Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) to prepare a scheme to monitor and control the KRL users.
"In general, all ranks from TNI, police, and Jakarta Government will cooperate with KCI to monitor the KRL passengers arrangement in the train. So, the conclusion of the meeting is to extend (Phase 1 Transitional PSBB) for 14 days and strictly control 2 areas (market and KRL)," he closed.
