Jakarta Environmental (LH) Agency conducted simultaneous supervision on the eco-friendly shopping bags usage that is officially set on July 1.
" Our officers are equipped with a dossier report sheet to record facts and findings in the field"
This policy refers to the Gubernatorial Regulation number 142/2019 on the mandatory use of eco-friendly shopping bags at shopping center, supermarket and folk market.
According to Andono Warih, Head of Jakarta LH Agency, the action was conducted in five regions.
"Our officers are equipped with a dossier report sheet to record facts and findings in the field," he expressed, after he led the supervision in one of malls at Jalah MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Wendesday (7/1).
In the operation, inside the mall, as many as 34 officers inspected 53 tenants to ensure managers no longer provide single-use plastic shopping bags.
"We need a policy to deal with this plastic waste problem considering it is no longer a local problem but global," he explained.
They also inspected the obligations of managers and business actors in the mall, as well as business actors related to the socialization procedure of using eco-friendly shopping bags and socialized the negative impacts of using single-use plastic bags.
"We also want to ensure whether they do what we do now or not. Including the negative impact of using plastic waste," he stated.
