Amid the COVID-19 pandemic and PSBB status in Jakarta, the Jakarta Vice Governor Ahmad Riza Patria (Ariza) together with the family celebrated Eid al-Fitr 1441 Hijri at the Official House, Kuningan Barat, South Jakarta, Sunday (5/24). Without reducing solemnity, with his wife, Ellisa and three daughters, namely Aisha, Aqila and Athila, performed the Eid prayers in the home.
" Alhamdulillah today my family and I celebrate Eid al-Fitr after one month following a series of Ramadan worship activities"
"Alhamdulillah today my family and I celebrate Eid al-Fitr after one month following a series of Ramadan worship activities. We perform Eid prayers at home. Although in the atmosphere of PSBB, we really enjoyed and were grateful that we could run it solemnly. There is a different atmosphere than the previous Eid," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.
After Eid prayers at home, he also did the Eid tradition and silaturahmi (friendship) with family and colleagues. This year, it was done virtually via video call.
"There is no open house in our house. We just do silaturahmi virtual at home. This is something different compared to the previous year," he explained.
He added that many good lessons could be taken amid COVID-19 outbreak, both for family and society in general.
"If we take the wisdom of this Ramadan and Eid, this is an extraordinary one, which may have never been in our entire lives. We can perform Eid prayers together with family fervently. Hopefully it will be cohesiveness, solidarity, intimacy, unity, harmony and solidarity for the family and will bring positive impact thus the nation is also more harmonious and peaceful," he stated.
He also appealed that Jakarta people continue to comply with all the provisions that apply to this third phase of the PSBB, including when carrying out the Eid tradition this year. Hopefully people can take advantage of existing digital technology, to facilitate communication over long distances, especially in touch with family, friends or colleagues.
"We didn't go anywhere on the first and second days. We invite all citizens not to leave the house, do silaturahmi and Eid greetings via video conference, zooming, etc," he told.
He also asserted that it was one of the ways for this PSBB to become the final. Thus Jakarta could enter the recovery and normalization phase.
"Hence, all citizens must be more obedient, obedient and disciplined. After the PSBB ends, we will enter a period of recovery and normalization. Where we all come back to life normally with the COVID-19 health protocols which are also more stringent," he explained.
"My hope is citizens to be more patient, calm, and we join in praying. And we have mobilized all media partners in Jakarta area to help. Hopefully citizens can also help and pray. Just believe, we can get through this together and return to normal life," continued.
He also appreciated citizens who celebrate Eid at home and comply with PSBB rules.
"We're grateful that today almost all Jakartans adhere to the fatwa of the MUI, DMI and also the hope of the Governor to worship at home," he closed.
