As many as 150 seaweed farmers in Thousand Islands have received staple food packages from Maritime and Fishery Minister Edhy Prabowo, on Tuesday (5/19).

This is believed to be able to absorb worker and create foreign exchange, as the target is exports

According to him, the growth trend of seaweed in Thousand Islands is getting better. Evidently, as many as 200 tons of seaweed have been exported to Vietnam every month.

"This is believed to be able to absorb worker and create foreign exchange, as the target is exports," he stated, when he distributed staple food packages to seaweed farmers in Karang Lebar, Panggang Island Urban Village, North Thousand Islands.

Thousand Islands Regent Husein Murad added, as a region that has been designated a National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN), the Thousand Islands deserves more attention.

"Our hope is they get help in terms of markets, technology, capital and development," he stated.
