City Receives 2,000 Units of Rapid Test Kits from Siloam Group for Pregnant Women

As a vulnerable group that has higher potential to be exposed to COVID-19, pregnant women need extra attention thus treatment can be provided as soon as possible for those who need it. Based on this need, Jakarta Government received 2,000 units of rapid test kits for pregnant women from Siloam Hospital Group.

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan together with Health Agency Head, Widyastuti received this assistance. He appreciated the assistance given from one of city's collaborators in order to handle COVID-19.

"I would like to thank our friends in Siloam Group for their assistance. We hope pregnant women can be detected early. Even if they are exposed to this disease, they can get treatment quickly," he said as quoted by Jakarta PPID Press Release, at Block G Building's Yard, Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday (4/28).

Meanwhile, Widyastuti mentioned, this assistance will be distributed to health centers (puskesmas) in Jakarta. According to data from Health Agency, as many as 44 sub-district puskesmas in Jakarta will do the mapping to find out which puskesmas that have highest visit by pregnant women, as well as puskesmas that are located in red zone.

"Alhamdulillah, recently we are also assisted in providing antibody rapid test for pregnant women. Pregnant women will give birth to the next generation, so we must make sure they are all healthy, even if they are confirmed positive, we should treat them properly according to the procedures," she explained.

Siloam Group Vice Director, Caroline Riady stressed the importance of rapid testing to overcome COVID-19 outbreak, especially for vulnerable groups such as pregnant women.

"We believe that the most important things to overcome COVID-19 is through testing. For pregnant women, when it is time for them to give birth, they can't wait for COVID-19 to finish. So, this is one of health system's roles, where we need to continue serving pregnant women and populations at risk in the COVID-19 period," she said.
