The Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD)'s Commission B Chairman Abdul Aziz appreciated the floating mosque development in Ancol area, North Jakarta. Its existence is much needed, as Ancol is a tourism area.

It can be a new icon for our city

"It can be a new icon for our city, I really appreciate it," he expressed, Tuesday (11/12).

According to him, mosques in Jakarta can also be developed into part of religious tourism in order to attract more tourists.

"Surely they (mosques) must have an attractive design and has its own meaning or philosophy thus people are interested in coming," he explained.

Hopefully the Jakarta Provincial Government could increase the iconic mosques, especially in tourist destination locations.

As for the information, the Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan conducted a groundbreaking for the floating mosque development on Saturday (11/9) along with the Indonesian Mosque Council Chairman Jusuf Kalla.

It will be developed up to 2,000 square meters width and is targeted to be finished within a year.
