The city-owned property developer PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol is set to conduct a groundbreaking for the Ancol Floating Mosque construction on Ria Beach, on Saturday (11/9).
" Hopefully this can give a new experience for visitors, as well as can become a new destination and icon of the pride of Jakarta"
This mosque design involves an architect Andra Martin. It will have a pentagon shape that reflects the pillars of Islam and the number of obligatory prayers in one day. While on the outside, there are six minarets (towers) which symbolize the foundation of the pillars of faith.
"It has 25 meters height that symbolizes 25 prophets with 2,000 square meters width. It can accommodate around 2,500 people," expressed PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol President Director, Teuku Sahir Syahali, Tuesday (11/5).
It has many forms of buildings that are historical symbols. The Qibla and the entire building are designed facing the sea, where air circulation is made open which utilizes a sea breeze as natural conditioning
Not only that, it will also be the center of tourist destinations with a variety of historic locations such as the Kota Tua and the Thousand Islands which have a history of Jakarta in the past.
"Hopefully this can give a new experience for visitors, as well as can become a new destination and icon of the pride of Jakarta," he hoped.
