Following the signing of a MoU on basketball sports education curriculum, the Jakarta Education Agency wants more outstanding athletes from basketball sports.

" We have a special program for curriculum of children and teenagers, from grade 1st to 12th or elementary through high school"

Through this partnership, from an early age, students in Jakarta have been given a theoretical and practical understanding of basketball. So, they can continue to develop their talents continuously.

Jakarta Education Agency Acting Head Syaefuloh Hidayat said the implementation of the basketball sports curriculum to education and school extracurricular is a collaboration carried out by the NBA for the first time in the Southeast Asian region.

"This collaboration combines the curriculum of basketball and fitness development Jr. NBA with a curriculum in 3,100 schools from various levels in Jakarta. It is targeting to reach 1.5 million students in 2020," he expressed, Thursday (10/17).

It is also part of the teacher's initial steps will undergo the Training of Trainer (ToT) conducted by NBA.

"We are more interested in potential teachers to join it, as they do transfer knowledge to other teachers," he explained.

Up to December, it is targeting 1,000 teachers and this program can touch 4,500 schools in Jakarta.

"First we draft a curriculum and then socialization including the ToT how to train children to play basketball, and finally 4,500 schools must implement this program well," he said.

All this time, he added, extracurricular and basketball sports curricula are already running in each school. But now, it is believed that the quality of learning basketball will be better.

"If it is realized, students will be interested in sports, especially basketball," he stressed.

Associate Vice President of NBA and NBA Asia Team Jim Wong expressed this collaboration is a major step forward to ensure that all school students in Jakarta are trained through the NBA and NBA Junior programs and curriculum.

"We have a special program for curriculum of children and teenagers, from grade 1st to 12th or elementary through high school. We want our future generations to be healthier and to love basketball," he hoped.
