In order to reduce air pollution in Thousand Islands, the local government encourages civil apparatuses and residents to go cycling.
" When we go to visit areas using bicycle, it is not only good for environment"
Thousand Islands Regent, Husein Murad mentioned, his side went cycling to Pari Island's coast and Untung Jawa Island on last Saturday.
"When we go to visit areas using bicycle, it is not only good for environment, but it could also encourage people to start using bicycle for their daily activities," he said, Monday (9/30).
According to him, cycling is one of government's efforts to make the air cleaner. Cycling, he added, is not only good for health, but it can also reduce air pollution.
Not only to local residents, his side also instructs civil apparatuses to use bicycle as their transportation to go to work. They are also instructed to use it to monitor the areas.
"Area monitoring is done thus we can get closer to residents. It is expected to make them feel ease to communicate and report their problems and inputs directly to the officers," he explained.
