Commemorating World Breastfeeding Week 2019 and 16th Anniversary of Indonesian Breastfeeding Center (Selasi), Jakarta Government holds talkshow about breastfeeding with theme 'Importance of Grandparents Support for Mother and Father to Breastfeeding' at Seribu Wajah Room, 22nd floor of City Hall, Central Jakarta.

Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP PKK) Leader, Fery Farhati assessed, theme chosen for talkshow is important in this modern era.

"I hope breastfeeding movement can be implemented successfully in Jakarta. As we know, breast milk is the basic need for infants. It provides all nutrient that the infant needs to grow," she explained, Thursday (8/29).

According to her, it is very important for mothers to give exclusive breastfeeding to infants on the first 6 months since it is the golden age period. Thus it also needs grandparents' role in reminding infants' parents for not giving complementary food within the golden age.

"Mothers should utilize well this golden age period to breastfeed their infants," she added.

At the same location, Jakarta Health Department (Dinkes) Head, Widyastuti conveyed, there are about 250 people participate in this talkshow from community health center (Puskesmas) employees, integrated service post (Posyandu) cadres, grandparents who support breastfeeding, Selasi community, and PKK cadres from 5 Jakarta regions and 1 regency.  

"In this talkshow, we want to discuss and share information regarding the importance of grandparents' role in ensuring parents to breastfeed their infants as recommended by WHO," she conveyed.
