Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan opens Job Matching and SMK Expo 2019 at Ki Hajar Dewantara Auditorium, Jakarta Education Department Office, South Jakarta. This event is held on August 19-20, 2019 as the continuation of SMK (vocational school) revitalization policy in order to absorb young workers through its new education system which is initiated since June 30, 2018.
" I hope you can use this chance to measure your skill and plan your future"
For information, SMK revitalization policy is implemented by strengthening SMK Mandiri regulation using BLUD pattern where SMK students can get competence certification from Professional Certification Institute (LSP) licensed by National Certification Agency (BNSP) (with total 84 SMKs in Jakarta becoming LSP-P1), disadvantaged students can get expanded access, and get a chance to participate in SMK Expo to show their innovation and Job Matching event where job opportunities are offered by various companies.
"You have passed the education process and this is your chance to start working. There are so many choices in front of you and you need to choose your own route. I hope you can use this chance to measure your skill and plan your future. Remember, it is not only for yourself but also for the good of your family and community," he conveyed as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Conference.
In this event, his side cooperates with 70 companies and industries that offer 5,000 job opportunities in total. This event also displays student's innovative products from teaching factory program to improve collaboration between SMK and industries.
City also cooperates with experts from Germany regarding industrial internship system where SMK graduates are expected not only to receive certification in their curriculum, but also the greatest experience involving companies and getting assistance from experts from Germany.
"Today, we are together with Senior Expert Service from Germany. We need to be grateful since Jakarta becomes the host of this program. It is an interesting experience to get assistance from Germany experts. Since it will cost higher if we send our students to Germany, thus we decided to bring them to Indonesia," he added.
On this occasion, Anies also mentioned that those experts are impressed with student's curiosity. He believes that student with curiosity is a great learner and this trait is important to lead them towards a bright future.
"Thank you for all industries involved in this event. I suggest you to look at our vocational school students first. They have potentials and skills. Recruit them, help them to develop their schools. Be their partner for preparing the future generation and create a world force that can make Jakarta become one of the most important global cities in the world," he asserted.
