Panggang Island Urban Village, North Thousand Islands, establishes seaweed farmers groups because many residents are attracted to be seaweed farmers.
"We have divided 300 sea weed farmers into 30 groups and zones"
Panggang Island Urban Village Head, Pepen Kuswandi explained, 300 residents have been trained by KPKP Sub-department and UKT 2 to cultivate seaweed in Panggang Island and Karya Island.
"We have divided 300 seaweed farmers into 30 groups and zones," he informed, Wednesday (8/14).
Their cultivation zone are located near Karya Island, Karang Lebar and Karang Sempit. His side hopes this zoning system can maintain sea water quality and prevent seaweed from getting disease.
"Currently, our seaweed farmers are trying to cultivate brown alg ae, green algae, and red algae," he said.
