The Jakarta Transportation Agency along with PT Transjakarta conducted a press conference on the rejuvenation of public transportation in the framework of following up the Governor's Instruction No. 66/2019 on Air Quality Control at Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday (8/6).

" 10,047 fleets of regular public transports will be integrated next year"

Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Syafrin Liputo targets 10,047 public transport vehicles to be integrated in the Jak Lingko system and rejuvenated in 2020.

"This acts to eliminate 10-year public transport vehicles and will be accelerated. Therefore 10,047 fleets of regular public transports will be integrated next year," he stated.

He stated that 3,359 fleets have been integrated with Jak Lingko and rejuvenated, consisting of 1,779 big-sized buses, 420 medium-sized buses and 1,160 small-sized buses. This policy also applies in the Greater Jakarta area and passenger-type cars.

"We have efforts and try to draft a good business process from the aspect of fleet availability from existing operators and we guarantee that the minimum service standards are well accepted by the community. That's why we have public transport service contract whereby the existing public transportation operators' income are guaranteed by the government," he explained.

With this rejuvenation, it is hoped able to parse 141 points of traffic jam and could coverage its areas up to 90 percent in the capital city next year.

PT Transjakarta President Director, Agung Wicaksono mentioned that Transjakart's fleets and integration facilities would be added. The integration facility itself has been ongoing at HI Roundabout Bus Stop (with MRT) and Rawamangan Bus Stop (with LRT).

"Thus far similar action has been expanded to the Tosari Bus Stop and will be continued to Lebak Bulus Bus Stop. Then the CSW Bus Stop already has a design from the contest. We also intend to do it at the UKI Cawang Bus Stop this year," he explained.

Until July 2019, as many as 3,305 buses have been integrated in Jak Lingko system, starting from articulated bus, single bus, double-decker bus, medium bus, microbus and Transjakarta Cares.
