"It is a very good chance for our athletes to improve their skills and gain experience by competing with athletes from other countries. Besides, it can strengthen relationship between athletes in ASEAN," said Jakarta Secretary's Community Welfare Assistant, Catur Laswanto on Friday (8/2).
Indonesian athletes, he informed, are from Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Jogjakarta, East Kalimantan, Papua and South Sumatera.
Meanwhile, Jakarta Youth and Sport Department Head, Achmad Firdaus explained, JAI competition is divided into water polo, synchronized swimming and diving.
"195 athletes participate in water polo, 55 athletes in synchronized swimming and 105 athletes in diving sports," he informed.
He assesses this event can help Jakarta athletes to preparing themselves before competing in PON 2020 Papua and Sea Games 2019 in Philippines in the upcoming November.
"Hopefully, it can improve our athletes skills and performances to face PON Papua and Sea Games in Philippines," he asserted.
