Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) informed weather detector and wave height sensor that have been installed since 2016 in two locations in Tidung Island, South Thousand Islands, are still functioning properly.
" It is still working well"
"We have checked our devices together with Data and Information Center (Pusdatin) on the locations and it is still working well," stated Subejo, Jakarta BPBD Head, Monday (6/17).
Even though it still can deliver information accurately, he continued, his side should do maintenance routinely to prevent its support poles from corroding due to sea water.
"Since it is made from iron, we need to do maintenance routinely every year to prevent it from corrosion and damage," he said.
His side has instructed security guards and local administrators to monitor routinely and make sure automatic weather system to run optimally. Because those devices are very important and needed in emergency situation.
