Jakarta stands in solidarity with New Zealand after terrorist attack in Christchurch City which killed 49 people by turning on the lights on Gelora Bung Karno Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) with red, blue, white colors that represent New Zealand's flag for a week. 

Jakarta wants to support New Zealand

"Our governor asked for this. Jakarta wants to support New Zealand, especially victims and their families," said Jakarta Bina Marga Department Head, Hari Nugroho, Saturday (3/16).

This three-color light has been turned on since last night. It illuminates GBK JPO every day from 6 PM until 5 AM.

Previously, Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan conveyed his deep condolences through his social media account.

"On behalf of Jakartans, we convey deep condolences to the victims families and Muslim communities in New Zealand," Anies stated via video that was published on his official social media account last night.

Anies stated, Jakarta stands in solidarity with Christchurch residents. According to him, Christchurch residents are known for their peace, openness, and friendliness in their multicultural society.

"We believe New Zealand Government can handle this tragedy optimally and uphold the justice," he asserted.
