Residents of RT 03/03 Petojo Utara, Gambir, Central Jakarta utilize Krukut Riverbank to build small ponds to farm catfish.

Since December 2018, we have built 3 ponds with size 3x1 meter each for catfish farming

"Since December 2018, we have built 3 concrete ponds with size 3x1 meter each for catfish farming. We encourage residents, especially those who are still unemployed, to participate in taking care of these catfish," said RT 03/03 Petojo Utara Head, Susanto Medan, Tuesday (3/12).

In fish harvesting time, some catfish are given to the locals, especially those who help taking care the catfish. While the rest is sold.

Usmani (45), ponds manager stated, catfish farming is relatively cheap because it only needs floating pellet feed and water circulation system. Residents can harvest it once per three months.

"Our first harvest reached 45 kilograms of catfish or as much as Rp 1 million. We used the money to buy more fingerlings and fish food pellets," he explained.
