Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan is opening the regional commission consultation meeting (Komda) between elderly from Java and Bali this year at Jakarta City Hall, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir, Central Jakarta.
Anies disclosed that the important part of this meeting is to conduct a review of government programs to the elderly community.
"I welcome this meeting and hope that the needs of the elderly can be more cared for and fulfilled," he expressed, Friday (9/21).
He explained that life expectancy, especially in Jakarta continues to increase. Therefore, It should be accompanied by supporting policies.
"As a form of protection and guarantees for the underprivileged elderly people, Jakarta Provincial Government has given Jakarta Elderly cards. We also need to coordinate well the guarantee program from private party institutions," he explained.
In the meantime, Jakarta Elderly Communication Forum Representative, Ery Cahyadi positively welcomes the meeting that aims to pay attention to the elderly.
"We want to fight for the revision of Act No. 13/1998 on elderly welfare to be adapted to current developments," he stressed.
Despite the city has issued 14,200 Jakarta Elderly cards, he wants them to still be able to contribute in the development of Jakarta.
"Surely we as seniors want to be very useful and stay productive," he said.
