"It aims to increase the skills of OK OCE participants, especially in processing salak and melinjo," expressed Darjamuni, Head of City Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security Dept., Tuesday (8/21).
He explained that Salak and melinjo fruit are an easily harvested agricultural commodity. In the Condet Fruit Reserve, salak harvest can be done twice in one year with a yield of nine tons.
"But because this fruit is easily rotten and broken, we took the initiative to open processing training," he stated.
From the processing results, salak can processed into dodol (sticky candy), fruit juice, syrup, sweets and crackers. While melinjo can be processed into cookies, skin jams and tea.
"This training is also opened as a preparation for the Condet Fruit Reserve plan that will be used as a tourist destination," he said.
