" We will instruct the SKPD and UKPD to involve locals, so it is certain that all children in Jakarta would get Diphtheria immunization"
Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan, is about to request the government apparatus to involve citizens to give Diphtheria immunization towards all children in Jakarta.
"We will instruct the SKPD and UKPD to involve locals, so it is certain that all children in Jakarta would get Diphtheria immunization," he stated, when he attended a series of Outbreak Response Immunization (ORI) of Diphtheria at SMAN 33, Jalan Kamal Raya No. 54, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, Monday (12/11).
He said it is an effort to protect the future of children from diphtheria disease. "By so, they can grow and achieve a better future," he explained.
On the other hand, Health Minister, Nila Moeloek explained, from the research results, children affected by Diphtheria disease are partly due to low immunizations.
"The parents must pay attention to this problem. This immunization is given to children aged 2 to 4 months and will be given again at the age of 18 months and repeated again in Immunization Month for elementary school students with first up to fifth grade," he told.
He added it would temporarily be focused on West Jakarta and North Jakarta.
"Further it will be expanded up to all over Jakarta areas, Banten, West Java, etc," he stated.
