N. Jakarta Administration to Rent Water Hyacinth Cleaner Equipment

The North Jakarta Administration plans to rent a multifunctional equipment in order to clean up water hyacinth in Pluit Reservoir, North Jakarta. This is because, around 60 percent, the plant has covered reservoir as wide as 80 hectares.

As quoted by beritajakarta.com observations, thus far, the cleaning process in Pluit Reservoir has been ongoing by involving 2 enumerator equipments and transport boats. Despite it is already more than a week, the reservoir is still strewn with water hyachinth about 60 percent and only cleared partially.

North Jakarta Mayor, Heru Budi Hartono disclosed that such multifunctional equipment is very useful to clean up the reservoir. Besides water hyacinth, the equipment can also suck up mud.

"We have to spend Rp 16 billion to buy the equipment, this is too expensive. That's why we will rent it," he expressed, Tuesday (6/3).

To clean up water hyacinth and trash, the equipment is capable to clean up up to 800 square meters per hour and pump mud, soil and water with a capacity of 500 cubic meters per hour. In addition, the equipment can suck up mud as deep as 10 meters and able to spray mud that has sucked as far as 1.5 KM. Uniquely, it does also not need a lot of moves, but can suck up mud within a radius of 100 meters.

According to him, the equipment 'water master' would be useful to assist the two equipments cleaning the reservoir. By so, the reservoir is expected to be cleaner soon.

"We will rent the equipment as soon as possible. Regarding rent price, we together with Public Works and Cleanliness Departments will discuss it. If the price has been set, we directly to rent the equipment," he stated.
