City Water Resources Dept. performs flood-handling steps in the capital, especially in Cipinang Melayu area, Makasar Sub-district and Gg. Arus, Cawang, East Jakarta.

It can be seen from construction of bronjong (levees made of stone piles with wire) that functions to minimize water volume.

"Preventively, bronjong has been built since the first day, including additional sand. The longest, will take one week, because we already have materials plus workers," said Teguh Hendrawan, Head of City Water Resources Dept., Monday (2/20).

Then for flood in Cipinang Melayu residential is mostly caused by broken levee located in Vila Nusa Housing Complex, Bekasi. Besides, Sunter River normalization is still unfinished.

While flood in Gg. Arus, Cawang is mostly caused by unfinished normalization at Ciliwung River and installation of sheet pile. Nevertheless, normalization authority lies in the Ciliwung-Cisadane Flood Control Office (BWSCC).

"We already coordinating with BWSCC for accelerating sheet pile installation," he closed.
