Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama explains his reason about the absence of the festival on city's 489th anniversary.
Celebration is important but our money is not enough, so we focus on our priority
"I think the most important is substance. We can realize it by conducting a groundbreaking for LRT, introducing application system, etc. So do not need festival," he disclosed, at City Hall, Tuesday (6/21).
He admitted he deliberately cut festival budget for city's anniversary. This is because, there are still many important activities in 2016 City Budget (APBD).
"Celebration is important but our money is not enough, so we focus on our priority," he expressed.
As known, several events that will be deleted this year are Jakarnaval and Malam Muda Mudi. Malam Muda Mudi is replaced with Appreciation Night.
In such events, the city administration would give appreciation to PPSU and freelancer (PHL) which have been working well.
