The Jakarta government is set to normalize the Krukut River to minimize flooding, especially in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.
It is indeed time for action
To smooth it out, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung instructed his team to immediately socialize this normalization policy.
"The flooding problem in Krukut River keeps happening repeatedly. It is indeed time for action. So, in yesterday's plenary meeting, we discussed it and I have already instructed for urgent socialization," he expressed, Friday (11/14).
He would also normalize the Mampang River, including the flow towards the upstream of the river.
Therefore, his party would normalize the flow of the river along 1.3 kilometers in accordance with the designated location.
"Because with the normalization of 1.3 kilometers, the flooding might decrease, in this case in South Jakarta," he explained.
Pramono also instructed the Water Resources Agency (SDA) to prepare the construction of a pump house at the end of Krukut River to make flood management more optimal.
"Flood tends to recede relatively quickly when a flood occurs. Hopefully, this can apply to everything, including normalization," he stated.
