Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds that hit the capital area yesterday afternoon until evening caused 17 trees to fall in East Jakarta. Fortunately, all the trees were evacuated that same night without causing any casualties or injuries.

"The handling of the fallen tree involved 78 personnel," said East Jakarta Parks and City Forest Sub-agency Head, Dwi Ponangsera, Friday (10/31).
While, East Jakarta Green Belt and Cemetary Section Head, Made Widhi Adnyana Surya Pratita explained that from 17 trees fell, three hit a house, a car garage, and a stall.
On Jalan Mutumanikam, Bidaracina Urban Village, there were three fallen trees type Angsana, Tanjung, and Pine.
Then was a Kersen tree on Jalan Makmur, Susukan Urban Village; a Bintangor tree on Jalan Supriyadi, Susukan Urban Village.
The Trembesi tree also fell on Jalan Sentra Timur in Pulo Gebang Urban Village, damaging a stall.
Next, one Kedondong tree in Rawa Makmur Complex, Cakung Timur Urban Village. Five Angsana trees fell at SMPN 281, Kramat Jati Urban Village.
"Also Ketapang tree on Jalan Surilang, Gedong Urban Village, also fell yesterday," he explained.
He added that three Angsana trees fell on Jalan Condet, Batu Ampar Urban Village.
"Then the two leaning trees detected on Jalan Raya Bogor KM 22, Ciracas Urban Village, which are Angsana trees, and on Jalan Trikora, Gedong Urban Village, which are Trembesi trees.
He again urged residents to be more cautious and alert during heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.
"Do not shelter or park your vehicle under a tree. We'll continue to make every effort to prevent falling and collapsing trees," he stated.
