The Metrology Management Unit and Supervision Division for Jakarta Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperative Trade Industry Agency (DPPKUKM) received awards as Orderly Measuring Areas, Consumer Protection Care Areas and 16 Orderly Measuring Markets from the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag).
This award was presented directly by Trade Minister Deputy, Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri to Jakarta PPKUKM Agency Head, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo representing Jakarta Acting Governor, Teguh Setyabudi at Fugo Hotel Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan yesterday, Tuesday (11/19
).Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi in a message read by Jakarta PPKUKM Agency Head, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all related staff.
This award was dedicated to Jakarta residents as a manifestation of the Jakarta Government's commitment to consumer protection.
"Consumer protection is one of the strategic pillars to create Jakarta a global city," she explained.
She uttered that the Jakarta Government would continue to protect the interests of the community and entrepreneurs through service innovation, re-testing Measuring Instruments and Equipment; supervision of circulating goods; dangerous goods; supervision of weighing measuring instruments, equipment, and supervision of BDKT.
"Also education to the public and institutional improvement of the Consumer Dispute Protection Agency (BPSK). By so, this award can continue to be a catalyst for comprehensive consumer protection," she uttered.
She added the Orderly Measurement Region program has been running since 2011 and the Orderly Measurement Market since 2010 is an effort to increase motivation, commitment, and the active role of local governments in enforcing consumer protection.
"Hopefully, the government can make maximum and continuous efforts to push re-calibration activities and legal metrology supervision in markets and business places that have weighing measuring instruments and equipment," she explained.
She explained the award itself had been received for three consecutive years. Then the Consumer Protection Concern Region award was received for the second time based on the assessment results of the Metorology Directorate for the Kemendag throughout 2023 which covers several aspects.
"Including the budget for consumer protection and trade order; consumer protection includes education of consumers and business actors as well as complaints," she explained.
Kemendag Vice Minister, Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri hoped that all markets in the country would be guided by Indonesian national standards, including orderly measurements to protect consumers, so that public trust is high.
"Thank you to the regions, both provinces, cities, and districts that have provided consumer protection in a bid to measure orderly trade activities," she closed.
