The Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency has noted that around 4,168 cubic meters of mud have been dredged from the Melati Reservoir, Tanah Abang from September 1, 2022 to mid-February 2023.
This work is targeted to be completed in the forthcoming March 2023
According to Mustajab, Sub-agency Head of Central Jakarta SDA, the dredging work was done to anticipate the siltation of reservoirs and flooding. The current work progress has reached 80 percent.
"This work is targeted to be completed in the forthcoming March 2023," he said, Sunday (2/19).
He explained the mud in this reservoir as wide as 4.9 hectares had touched two meters thick. After this dredging, the mud collected was disposed of at the Ancol PLTU, North Jakarta.
"To do it, we send ten workers and four excavators," he explained.
Hopefully, the reservoir could accommodate water in large quantities in a bid to optimally block inundation.
"Hope it works maximally," he concluded.
