The Jakarta DPRD's Commission D together with executives in the fields of Development and Environment held a joint meeting to discuss the 2023 City Working Plan (RKPD).

We encourage other RDFs as a solution to overcome the waste problem in Jakarta

On that occasion, Commission D Chairwoman Ida Mahmudah was encouraging Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) as a solution to overcome the waste problem in Jakarta. As is known, RDF is a waste management technique by converting waste into something useful, namely fuel.

"We encourage other RDFs as a solution to overcome the waste problem in Jakarta," she expressed, at the City Council building, Tuesday (5/17).

She admitted there are advantages and disadvantages in the construction of the RDF which can only handle 2,000 tons of waste every day with a composition of 1,000 tons of old waste and 1,000 tons of new waste. Ideally, there would be four more RDFs owned by the Jakarta administration to overcome the waste problem.

"RDF financing is cheaper and doesn't need to pay a tipping fee," she stated.
