Approaching Lebaran, surely we know that the need for food products is increasing, like agricultural, fishery or livestock products. Along with the increasing market demand, there must be people who seek profit in a bad way, such as mixing chemicals into food products.
" Ahead and during Ramadan until Eid, we are routinely monitoring food products at traditional markets"
East Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-agency Head, Yuli Absari said, the livestock product that was prone to being mixed with formaldehyde chemicals was chicken meat, but so far rarely found in beef.
For fishery products, formalin was usually found in salted fish species, but rarely found in fresh fish.
"Ahead and during Ramadan until Eid, we are routinely monitoring food products at traditional markets. Usually it is done together with the KPKP Agency and BPOM," she expressed, Friday (4/30).
Therefore, how do we know that a food product is pure and does not contain harmful chemical compounds? The following are the tips:
1. Food products for chicken and fish, if the meat contains chemicals it is usually not infested with flies. Then no distinctive smell of chicken, meat and fish
2. The texture looks clearer and more stocky, but very unnatural. Of course, do not buy it
Therefore, she suggested buying fresh meat, chicken and fish. If not, then buy frozen products. Because prozen or frozen is healthier.
"For instance, for chickens after slaughtered, the good period is 6-8 hours. After that it is no longer worth consuming. Unless the meat is frozen it can last longer as the bacteria have died," she explained.
For agricultural products, especially for vegetables, according to her, so far no dangerous chemical substances had been found.
"Several times conducting monitoring in the field, we have not found any vegetables that contain harmful chemicals on the market," she stated.
