Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency's Center for Marine Cultivation and Conservation (PBKL) planted 1,500 mangroves in Tidung Kecil island's conservation area, Tidung Island Urban Village, South Thousand Islands, Thousand Islands.

Jakarta KPKP Agency's PBKL Unit Head, Cecep Hermawan said, mangrove planting was carried out through collaboration with young people community who are the members of Ocean Solution Microgrants.
"Mangrove planting also becomes a medium for education purpose in order to raise people awareness towards environment and marine ecosystem," he asserted, Monday (3/8).
According to him, through mangrove planting, Jakarta KPKP Agency wanted to rehabilitate ecosystem on the coast and small islands to improve balance of the coast and sea in Thousand Islands and coastal areas of Jakarta in general.
"We are making efforts to mitigate climate change by utilizing blue carbon in coastal ecosystem in Thousand Islands," he asserted.
