Entering the 59th week, Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) construction in North Jakarta has reached 31.89 percent by this week. This international football stadium construction progress is still in the planning schedule even in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic.

For this reason, JIS will be equipped with facilities that are environmentally friendly as well as sustainability

JIS Material Coordinator Officer, Alfitra Libelnedo said, since JIS project is a global scale mega-structure project, it is built by paying attention to every detail of prevailing global standard value system. One of them is a building that applies Green Building (environmentally friendly) scheme. For this reason, JIS will be the first stadium in Indonesia with sustainability concept.

"Later on, JIS will also obtain platinum level certification or greenship by Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) certification body. For this reason, JIS will be equipped with facilities that are environmentally friendly as well as sustainability," he conveyed in a written statement, Thursday (10/22).

JIS, he continued, will apply energy efficiency and conservation where it will use energy more efficiently. For example, JIS will use solar panels as the renewable energy about 5.1 percent of electrical power needed by the building.

"Meanwhile, we supply the remaining 95 percent from PLN. Furthermore, rooms in JIS will also use LED lights, including parks in stadium area because LED lights are saving more energy. In the field, we will use special sport lighting to support broadcasting. Those are in accordance with FIFA standards," he explained.

JIS will be more environmentally friendly, because it applies water conservation concept, where water use for sinks, wall and shower faucets will be equipped with auto-stop feature. It means, each feature is set according to the applicable standards.

"For example, the standard for shower use must be below nine liters per minute. Furthermore, waste water in JIS will be reused for watering plants and field grass. So, we don't use PDAM water, including for flushing toilet," he added.

JIS will also utilize rainwater by making Rain Water Tank (RWT), then filtered into Treated Rain Water (TRW) and it will be stored in Ground Water Tank (GWT).

"We will also install CO2 monitoring sensor. This sensor will be installed in rooms that have high density. Such as changing rooms for players, conference room, media room, and mix zone," he mentioned.
