The North Jakarta Environment Sub-agency conducted free emission testing for 45 vehicles at the local Mayor's Office canteen premises.
Pollution and Environmental Damage Control Section Head, Evy Sulistiawati, stated that the initiative—part of a series of events commemorating World Environment Day 2026—targets official operational vehicles (KDO), employees' private cars, and guest vehicles entering the mayor’s office complex.
We hope for growing awareness among vehicle owners regarding regular emission checks
"Conducted from 8 AM to 12 PM, these tests aim to monitor owner compliance and evaluate the pass rate of vehicles within the mayor’s office vicinity," she expressed, Tuesday (6/9).
She detailed that the tested vehicles comprised 29 motorbikes, 15 gasoline-powered cars, and one diesel-powered vehicle.
"Regarding the 12 motorcycles that failed to meet the standards, their owners received counseling and were requested to service their vehicles at the earliest opportunity," she added.
She explained that these routine services span six sub-districts in North Jakarta. Beyond government sites, the sub-agency actively brings these services directly to residential areas.
"We hope for growing awareness among vehicle owners regarding regular emission checks and maintenance. This is a crucial step in making a real impact on improving the air quality across Jakarta," she concluded.
The complimentary emission test received commendation from a Tanjung Priok local, Hilmi (65).
"I became aware of this free testing program while I was exercising nearby," he stated.
He mentioned that this was his second experience with the service, emphasizing the efficiency and ease of the procedure.
"The results were available almost immediately, and my vehicle successfully passed the inspection," he asserted.
