The Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) welcomes the presence of Car Free Day (CFD) on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, viewing it as a vital new area for the public to engage in sports.

Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency Head, Andri Yansyah, noted that the expansion of these community sports locations aims to provide residents with more options to stay fit after their weekly work routine.

The public can enjoy a variety of activities

He stated that the Rasuna Said area serves not only as a venue for modern sports but also as a hub for various traditional and recreational activities.

"In its implementation, the public can enjoy a variety of activities such as hula hooping, stilts (egrang), wooden clog racing (bakiak), and lion dances, as well as various types of aerobics involving community sports groups," he expressed, Tuesday (6/9).

His agency is partnering with KORMI Jakarta, the governing body for dozens of sports organizations known as Inorga.

Jakarta now hosts 27 active Inorga branches, promoting diverse recreational and traditional sports to encourage a more active lifestyle among residents.

At the first-ever CFD on Rasuna Said, dozens of members from these organizations joined the festivities. Featured activities ranged from traditional stilts and wooden clogs to hula hoops, various fitness routines such as heart-healthy and Tera exercises, and a marching band display.

"Further, various other communities have begun to express interest in joining, as they require more space for their activities," he added.

He emphasized that the presence of these federations at CFD Rasuna Said goes beyond public outreach; it functions as a vital training ground to identify rising stars in recreational sports.

This is in line with the ongoing preparations for the National Recreational Sports Festival (FORNAS), which serves as the country’s main stage for national community sports competitions.

He further explained that the core concept is to take the initiative by integrating sports communities into public areas. By utilizing banners, activity showcases, and face-to-face interactions, residents are able to explore different recreational disciplines and join these groups on the spot.

"Out aim is for public involvement in community sports to keep growing, for our track record of success to be maintained, and for Jakarta to continue its dominance as one of the leading regions in the national FORNAS competition," he emphasized.
