W. Jakarta Mayor Wants Disability Facilities to Be Improved

West Jakarta Mayor, Rustam Effendi, instructed his ranks to care more about persons with disabilities by fixing special facilities for them.

"I instruct all ranks to pay attention on facilities to provide convenience to them," asserted Rustam, when he gave a speech in the commemoration of the 26th National Disability Day in the room of Ali Sadikin, the local mayor office, Tuesday (12/4).

On that occasion, he also wanted the KUKMP sub-dept. to help guide and market the products of persons with disabilities to the community.

"I want you to help marketing the work of persons with disabilities through the OK OCE and Dekranasda programs," he disclosed.

West Jakarta Health Sub-dept. Head, Weningtyas Purnomorini explained that the activity was attended by hundreds of children from 24 outstanding schools (SLB) and two inclusive schools such as SMP 264 and SMA 112, plus representatives of Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta.

It was filled by various with a series of activities including the vow for Healthy Life Society Movement (Germas) 'I am Healthy I can', signing a commitment with the West Jakarta Administration as a Disability Friendly City, as well as performing arts and exhibiting the work of persons with disabilities.

"In this event, Mr. Mayor also handed over the award charter to 18 extraordinary children who made achievements in the national and international championship," he stated.
