Jakarta Research Council (DRD) is supporting the construction of Intermediate Treatment Facility (ITF) in order to solve garbage issue in the capital. By so Jakarta Clean program could be realized properly.

To realize the program, Jakarta DRD Working Body Secretary, Muhammad Fausal Kahar expressed, the garbage management should be well-organized.
"Garbage management must be done using ITF," he stated, at Jakarta DRD Office, Technical Dept. Housing Complex, Jalan Taman Jatibaru, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (12/19).
He explained, garbage management using ITF has been applied in some countries and has been proven effective.
"It's not enough just to rely on Bantar Gebang Landfill," he explained.
His party also wants the government able to encourage the plastic companies to use eco-friendly materials. Additionally, the Waste Bank program must also be intensified.
"In addition to making the system, socialization and education, we really appreciate the government that has upheld the law for people who caught littering," he said.
As known, the city through PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) that has been cooperating closely with Finnish company, Fortum is slated to build ITF in Sunter, North Jakarta. Sunter ITF is targeted to operate in 2019.
Around 2,000-2,200 tons of garbage per day or 30 percent of total garbage by 7,000 tons will be burned in Sunter ITF. They will be burned at 1,200-1,600 Celcius degrees temperature and can produce 35 megawatts of electrical energy.
