Damaged road repair work continues. In Central Jakarta, one of the damaged roads repaired is the Jl. Gempol, RT 02/07, Kebon Kosong Urban Village, Kemayoran Sub-District. The road is repaired by reinforcing it with concrete for as long as 50 meters on one of its lanes, and also heightened for 20 centimeters high.
Jamil (23), a local, disclosed that before being repaired, Jl. Gempol Kemayoran had potholes as deep as 10 centimeters and as wide as 20 centimeters. During rainy season, the road that connects Jl. Benjamin Sueb with Jl. Utan Panjang was often inundated.
“The repair has been done since Thursday (3/13) and is focused on one lane for now, so the other lane can still be passed by vehicles. Before being repaired, the road was severely damaged. Alhamdulillah (praise God) the road is finally repaired, because many bikers had accidents due to the holes,” he said, Wednesday (3/19).
Head of Central Jakarta Road Public Works Sub-Department, Maryana, uttered that the road is reinforced with concrete because it often damaged after being repaired. Moreover, inundations also caused the road damaged more severe.
“We had patched the road, but it always damaged again due to inundations which caused potholes and the road became bumpy. So, we’re finally reinforced it with concrete,” she explained.
According to Maryana, the repair of Jl. Gempol is targeted to be completed in a week ahead, precisely on March 25. The work itself is carried out at night to prevent congestion.
Besides Jl. Gempol, Central Jakarta Road Public Works Sub-Department also plans to repair damaged road under Galur Flyover, precisely Jl. Letjen Suprapto, including the water channel.
“We will also repair water channel and gutter as wide as 40 centimeters and as deep as 30 centimeters. By repairing those facilities, water flow will be directed to Sentiong River. So, it would not overflow onto the streets and cause inundation,” she finished.
